Richard Gordon, Senator, proposed on Thursday the formation of a recent regulatory body when it comes to online gambling, therefore leaving the country's Amusement and Gaming Corp to oversee physical casinos. He communicated at a hearing from the Senate, regarding an alleged bribe that was attempted from Jack Lam, a casino tycoon.
The POGRA (Philippine Online Gaming and Regulatory Authority) will have to oversee this industry of 250$ billion using the best technology.
Vitaliano Aguirre, Justice Secretary, stated that a regulator would be very helpful eliminating the gray areas of online gambling.
Since the laws of gambling in the Philippines forbid Filipinos from playing in online casinos, they are only available for offshore players.
