The license of Philweb Corp wasn't renewed by The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. Philweb Corp is an operator that has more than 300 cafes that offer online games.
Duterte said
I was mad because even the youth are gambling and there was no way of collecting the proper taxes
Duterte had singles the owner, Roberto Ongpin, of Philweb as one of the richest men in the country, saying he is an example of an oligarch.
The Philippines stands to lose about $215 million in annual revenues due to the decision of not renewing the licenses of operating e-bingo and also e-games outlets.
Meanwhile in China:
On Monday, 29th of August, the Ministry of Culture from China, ordered 26 game operators to amend violations there were banned games running to use registrations with real names. Among those 26 game operators, 16 provide games to play online that involve gambling, pornography and also content that is racist. There were other violations, such the failing to inform the players and people in general that a game would be suspended or even to take several measures in order to prevent minors of becoming addicted to online games.
