Some old news on the current state of affairs of online gambling in the Philippines. The government is making it difficult for operators and will inevitably push operators out of the lucrative market and make it challenging for regular players to visit any websites.
Rodrigo Duterte, Phillipine's President, claimed on Wednesday, the 24th of August, that he can allow a resumption of online gambling in this country only if there's a payment of the right taxes and also if the gaming parlours aren't near any schools or churches. Rodrigo Duterte even added online gambling to the list of his own vices. Many gaming regulators even were opting not to renew their licenses that were expired in order to prevent poor Filipinos from playing.
He added that
I will restore online (gambling) provided taxes are correctly collected and they are situated or placed in districts where gambling is allowed, which means to say, not within church distance or schools
The license of Philweb Corp wasn't renewed by The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. Philweb Corp is an operator that has more than 300 cafes that offer online games.
Duterte said
I was mad because even the youth are gambling and there was no way of collecting the proper taxes
Duterte had singles the owner, Roberto Ongpin, of Philweb as one of the richest men in the country, saying he is an example of an oligarch.
The Philippines stands to lose about $215 million in annual revenues due to the decision of not renewing the licenses of operating e-bingo and also e-games outlets.
Meanwhile in China:

Among those 26 game operators, 16 provide games to play online that involve gambling, pornography and also content that is racist. There were other violations, such the failing to inform the players and people in general that a game would be suspended or even to take several measures in order to prevent minors of becoming addicted to online games. Online operators need to make this prevention when it comes to minors playing online games for too long, taking measures such as to reduce or invalidate their gains, when they have been playing for a while. The ministry said, in a statement that âBusinesses must learn their lessons, fulfill their responsibilities, improve their own self-censorship and operate their businesses in line with the lawâ.
